Bonjou, family and friends!

On June 12, 2011, I boarded a plane that would take me to Cap Haïtien, Haiti for the very first time. Little did I know then that I would return multiple times over the next eight years, altogether captivated by the beauty of Haitian culture and drawn to the heart of the organization that I was working with: Children of the Promise (COTP).

COTP is a nonprofit organization that provides foster care to orphaned and abandoned children who are referred to their care, and also serves many families in the surrounding region through a variety of programs geared to strengthen families. Check out their website to learn more!

Starting in the fall, I will be working as the Volunteer and Activities Coordinator (VAC) for COTP on the ground in Haiti! My role as the VAC will be to connect short-term volunteers into the community and mission work of COTP, as well as serve as the on-site photographer and videographer. I am thrilled to contribute towards the vision of a healthy, Christian home and family for every Haitian child in my role as the VAC!

This move is accompanied by great prayerful and financial needs. As a nonprofit organization, COTP relies on the generosity of donors to fund the costs associated with ministry in Haiti. My position is an annual, renewable commitment that requires fundraising.

My fundraising goal for the upcoming year is $25,000. This amount will cover my cost of living: housing, utilities, transportation on the ground, airfare, and any supplies necessary to do my job as VAC. While this is a large amount of money, it can be compared to the annual income of the average, full-time American worker: $43,000 (or the amount the average American spends on coffee annually: $1,100 - yikes). 100% of the $25,000 will go directly towards the ministry of COTP, and a gift of any amount is significant. Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal!
