Roni’s Race: Running Orphan Care Out of Business
Roni Bhullar lived in Haiti and served at Children of the Promise (COTP) as a Hope House Parent from 2015-2020 with his wife, Stephanie. They then returned “home” to Nashville and welcomed two children into their family who are now ages two and three. Roni and his family currently live in Pennsylvania where he works as a mental health therapist.
Roni has previously run five marathons, all to benefit the children living on COTP’s campus (take a peek at the video below from one of Roni's previous races!). If you ever visited COTP, you may have gone on a run with Roni on Haiti’s rocky, dusty roads. If you haven’t gone on a run with Roni, you’ve probably still been asked if you’d like to go running. It is time for Roni to run another marathon but this time it will look a lot different.
Since Roni’s time in Haiti, COTP has drastically shifted their model of care with a strong focus on programs that keep children from needing to live in an orphanage in the first place. One of these vital programs is Domestic Foster Care, which trains and equips local Haitian families to raise Haitian children in need of a stable home. Roni will be joining up with several of his friends from Uptown Works to run the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 5, 2024. Uptown Works is a coworking space in Somerset, Pennsylvania where Roni is able to operate his private counseling practice. Roni and his fellow coworkers will be running to raise the funds necessary for COTP to operate the Domestic Foster Care program for this year. Please join them in running orphanages in Haiti out of business by donating above!
